Lab Overview
Deploy a Multi-AZ Amazon RDS MySQL instance and experience automatic failover first-hand. You will inspect the instance with the RDS API, force a failover reboot, verify the DNS endpoint stays the same while the primary AZ switches, and create an RDS Proxy to reduce future failover time.
You'll learn to:
- Inspect a Multi-AZ RDS deployment and identify the primary Availability Zone
- Inspect a Multi-AZ RDS instance and its endpoint using the RDS API
- Force a failover and observe the Availability Zone switch
- Verify that the same DNS endpoint resolves to the new primary
- Create an RDS Proxy for connection pooling and faster failover
