You install Istio on Kubernetes and manage traffic for the real TaskFlow FastAPI backend. TaskFlow has a single real release, so it is deployed as two labeled subsets, v1 (the unmodified real image) and v2 (the same real backend deployed as an operational variant that stamps a version header). You then use Istio VirtualServices, DestinationRules, weighted canary routing, an ingress Gateway, a ServiceEntry, and a strict mTLS policy to route, split, and secure live traffic, verified by real requests, not just applied YAML.
