Lab Overview

In this scenario-only lab you will evaluate whether DynamoDB Global Tables are the right choice for three distinct workload profiles. No DynamoDB tables are created -- this lab focuses on analysis and decision-making.

You will:

  • Read a fictional company scenario describing multi-region application requirements
  • Analyze Global Tables concepts: eventual consistency, conflict resolution, replication latency, and throughput considerations
  • Evaluate three workload profiles (real-time inventory, user sessions, log aggregation) against RPO and RTO requirements
  • Build a structured decision matrix in markdown table format with clear justifications
  • Calculate cost estimates for Global Tables versus alternatives (on-demand backup, PITR, Lambda-based replication)
  • Document architecture tradeoffs including write conflicts and region management
  • Write a final recommendation report with chosen approach, RPO/RTO numbers, estimated monthly cost, and operational considerations

Runs on a single AWS workstation. No multi-region DynamoDB resources are provisioned.
