Lab Overview

Database migration scenarios are heavily tested on the AWS SAP-C02 exam, appearing across Domain 1 (Design Solutions for Organizational Complexity), Domain 2 (Design for New Solutions), and Domain 4 (Migration and Modernization). This workshop-style lab teaches you the complete database migration design methodology: assessing source database readiness, architecting DMS replication topologies (full load vs CDC vs full load + CDC), designing SCT schema conversion strategies for heterogeneous migrations, and building production-grade migration runbooks with rollback plans. You'll deploy source and target RDS MySQL instances, use the AWS CLI to explore DMS concepts, create comprehensive design documents and decision matrices, and compile an exam-focused study guide covering every database migration scenario tested on the SAP-C02. No actual DMS replication instances are provisioned (lab guardrails) -- this lab focuses entirely on the architecture design and decision-making skills the exam demands.
