Lab Overview
Practice the Azure data protection workflow that administrators use to back up and recover virtual machines.
You will deploy a small Linux VM in an approved Azure region, create a Recovery Services vault and a VM backup policy, enable protection and submit an on-demand backup job, and complete a fast managed-disk snapshot restore drill. A native Azure VM backup job can take 20 to 60 minutes, so the lab submits the backup as fire-and-forget and validates the goal state without waiting for job completion. The restore drill uses managed disk snapshots so you get a complete, fast, hands-on recovery experience, and you finish by analyzing static backup-job and restore-point artifacts.
