AWS Backup Multi-Service Runbook
Configure AWS Backup with centralized backup plans, cross-region copy actions, and multi-service coverage for EC2, RDS, EFS, and DynamoDB.
Lab Overview
In this lab you will build a comprehensive backup strategy using AWS Backup. You will create backup plans, assign resources across multiple services, configure cross-region copies, and run restore drills.
You will:
- Create a KMS customer-managed key for backup vault encryption
- Build a backup plan with a daily schedule rule, 7-day retention, and cross-region copy to us-west-2
- Provision an EC2 instance and a DynamoDB table, assigning them to the plan via tags
- Execute on-demand backups and monitor job completion
- Perform a restore drill from a recovery point to a new DynamoDB table
Region: us-east-1. DR region: us-west-2.
