Lab Overview

Practice the App Service workflow that administrators use to host web apps and roll out changes safely.

You will create a Basic (B1) App Service plan in an approved Azure region, deploy a tiny Node.js web app with a zip package, temporarily scale the plan to Standard (S1) so deployment slots become available, create a staging slot, deploy a new version to the slot, swap it into production, and inspect HTTPS-only, minimum TLS version, default hostname, and outbound IP settings. You finish by recording a tier and scaling decision artifact and scaling the plan back down to control cost.

Prepare an Azure CLI workspace for App Service operations

Create a Basic App Service plan and deploy a small Node.js web app with a zip package

Create a deployment slot and perform a slot swap after scaling to a Standard plan

Inspect App Service networking and TLS settings, including HTTPS-only and minimum TLS version

Record an App Service tier and scaling decision and scale the plan back down for cost control
