What You'll See Live
Sam runs the academy's Terraform Modules on AWS lab from the Terraform 004: Certified Terraform Associate course. No slides, just terminal, IDE, and live commentary.
We'll build four reusable modules and compose them into a complete AWS deployment:
- TLS module, generate keys and certificates as the foundation
- Networking module, VPC and subnets that other modules consume
- Load Balancer module, wire outputs from networking into the LB
- EC2 module, compute that ties the whole composition together
- Module composition, call each module from a root module, pass values in, consume outputs across module boundaries
Along the way you'll see the full Terraform workflow (init, plan, apply, destroy), how module interfaces improve reuse and readability, and how a real AWS deployment looks when modeled as composed modules instead of one giant config.
What This Is Not
- Not EKS / Kubernetes (out of scope for this lab)
- Not Vault dynamic database credentials (covered in the Secrets lab)
- Not S3 remote state / drift detection (covered in the State Management lab)
- Not Terraform tests or HCP Terraform (covered in the Testing and HCP labs)
