DR Strategy Workshop: RPO/RTO Decision Framework
Analyze business scenarios with different RPO/RTO constraints and implement the correct DR pattern (backup-restore, pilot light, warm standby) for each.

Lab Overview
In this scenario-based workshop you are given three business scenarios with different Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) requirements. For each scenario you must select the correct AWS disaster recovery pattern and implement it end-to-end.
You'll learn to:
- Map RPO/RTO requirements to DR patterns (backup-restore, pilot light, warm standby)
- Create AWS Backup vaults and backup plans for automated protection
- Configure S3 cross-region replication for pilot-light data synchronization
- Create stopped EC2 pilot-light instances with pre-configured user data
- Set up Route 53 health checks for failover readiness
- Compare cost profiles across DR strategies to make informed decisions
